Harley Jones, RIC

Harley Jones is a Resident in Counseling and Nationally Certified Counselor. She believes in the power of relationships, humor, and creativity to help us grow and develop new perspectives in life. Harley brings a warm and open minded approach to counseling. Prior to working as a therapist in Richmond, VA, she worked as a special education teacher in New York, New York. Her life experiences have led her to believe that neurodiversity is a fundamental part of life, and we can all benefit from bringing more acceptance to our own minds. Harley has worked with a broad range of clients, including teens, young adults, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. She has a particular interest in exploring the ways that cultural identity impacts our sense of self.

As a counselor, Harley supports her clients to move toward their therapeutic goals with a creative and practical approach. Harley believes that open communication, while challenging, can be a major piece of personal growth. Her therapeutic approach is informed by the idea that life is ever changing, and that in order to live with more freedom and joy, we can embrace our own capacity for growth. Harley believes that every individual possesses powerful strengths and self-knowledge. She believes that therapy can help us uncover what already exists within us, that may have been hidden by challenging life circumstances.
