Rachel Jones, LPC

Rachel Jones is a licensed professional counselor. Rachel's belief is that everyone could use extra support, a place to define purpose and values, and tools to use to tackle life’s everyday problems. As humans, we often struggle with anxiety, depression, and difficulties in relationships. Her aim is to walk with you through life’s most difficult moments while also celebrating life's successes.

She moved to Virginia in March 2020 from Houston, Texas right in the middle of the Pandemic. When she is not in session, she enjoys taking her dogs on walks to the James River, spending time with family, and exploring all the great coffee shops and restaurants Richmond has to offer. She also enjoys spending time in the gym because she believes that exercise is a great tool that aids in the reduction of stress and anxiety. Self-care is extremely important to Rachel and she advocates for all of her clients to take some time for themselves every day.

The idea of starting therapy can be scary. It is completely normal to feel nervous or anxious. Rachel's goal is to ease your nerves and help you see that although therapy can be difficult at times, it can also be very rewarding. She looks forward to meeting and working with you to help you become the best version of you!

Treatment Modalities

When working with children, my therapeutic work focuses on exploring your child’s inner world in order to build a trusting relationship. I incorporate a variety of play therapy techniques when working with children, such as expressive arts therapy, sand tray therapy, and directive play therapy.

Teenagers are at a crucial age where they long for belonging, but have not yet formed a solid identity. By developing a strong therapeutic relationship with my adolescent clients and utilizing cognitive-behavioral, as well as solution focused techniques, my goal is to help your adolescent thrive during life’s most stressful circumstances.

As an adult, who has juggled the work, life, school balance, I understand the difficulties that life can bring. I have a down-to-earth approach in order to meet each individual wherever they are in life. I’m equipped in several different theoretical orientations and tailor my sessions to meet each client’s needs.

I utilize Gottman Method Couples Counseling as well as several tools from Imago Relationship Therapy and Discernment Counseling to tailor sessions to each couple’s needs. I am trained in Prepare/Enrich and enjoy working with premarital couples as well as relationships at all stages. According to relationship expert Dr. John Gottman, couples wait an average of six years of being unhappy before getting help. Don’t hesitate to get help, a stronger and more fulfilling relationship is possible.
