Introducing New Services and Providers at Calming Wind
Over the last few months Calming Wind Counseling Services has been adding more services and providers to our practice. Calming Wind Counseling Services is excited to introduce Joanna Smith LPC, Robin Fore Martin LPC, Destiny Douglas LPC, and Christine Vazquez ATR-BC who have joined our team! Additionally, we would like to highlight a couple of new services that we are offering including clinical supervision and online groups!
Joanna Smith, LPC
Joanna Smith is a licensed professional counselor dedicated to increasing access to mental health care by providing counseling services online. The therapy provided stems from a holistic theoretical orientation primarily based on cognitive-behavioral therapy and person-centered theory. Joanna has a relaxed, friendly approach and believes everyone is capable of experiencing more joy through simple, practical steps.
Robin Fore Martin LPC
Robin Fore Martin is a licensed professional counselor who is certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and is a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. More information to come. Robin believes in meeting people where they are with their mental health and substance use needs while providing strategies and techniques to help them move in the direction of their choice.
Destiny Douglas LPC
Destiny is a licensed professional counselor and certified substance abuse counselor who is passionate about cultural humility, as well as identity affirming and accessible mental health services. Destiny believes that the goal of therapy is to provide clients with a safe, nonjudgmental, and validating place to develop and enhance skills that increase clients’ capacity to cope with life’s ongoing stressors.
Christine Vazquez ATR-BC
Christine Vazquez is a ATR-BC who has years of experience of being a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina. Christine is a Certified Mind Body Medicine Practitioner who loves encouraging others to use imagination and relaxation for healing. She has worked as an ATR-BC for ten years in many different settings.
As part of our new services we have launched groups through the use of HIPAA-compliant Zoom. These online groups include Art for Self-Healing and Mind Body Skills. The Art for Self Healing group is a weekly group meant for participants to be able to come together and express their stresses, concerns, and more through the use of art. These group sessions are open to adults and do not require multiple week commitments.
The Mind Body Skills groups are 8-week closed groups facilitated according to the guidelines of the Center for Mind Body Medicine and provide a safe and supportive small group environment to gently begin the journey towards self-discovery, reducing and relieving stress and creating optimal health.
There are currently only adult groups for the Art for Self-Healing online group but there are Mind Body Skills groups for teenagers and adults. These groups are self-pay only groups at $40 per session. If you have questions or concerns about payment or payment arrangements for groups please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
In order to register for any of these groups you can click here and select the group day and time that best suits you. You will be asked to fill in your contact information which will be used to setup your client portal, and confirm your registration for the online group.
Clinical Supervision services are provided to help residents in counseling in Virginia learn clinical skills, develop their counseling style, encourage personal growth, and prepare them for licensure in Virginia. Clinical Supervisors provide supervision on either an individual or group format to assist residents in counseling fulfill their residency requirements. Robin Fore Martin, LPC is a board approved supervisor and is willing to supervise residents in counseling for a fee per hour.
