R. Lim is from Herndon, Virginia. She is a Supervisee in Social Work with a passion for empowering individuals from all walks of life and a particular interest in supporting at-risk youth in navigating challenges around coming of age. Her personal experiences have equipped her with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by diverse communities. Lim is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and empathetic space for clients to explore their mental health and well-being. She hopes to aid in breaking down barriers to mental health services for underserved communities. Her goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background or identity, has access to the support they need. Lim believes in a collaborative, client-centered approach. Lim has experience working with individuals ages 6-71 facing a variety of challenges including, but not limited to mood and anxiety disorders, LGBTQ+ issues, school behaviors, relationship issues, substance use struggles, disordered eating, life transitions, trauma, minority stress, ADHD, and ASD. Lim also has experience working with families and in group settings.
Lim uses an eclectic approach, informed primarily by Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, creative expression, and talk therapy techniques.
